Veneers
Are veneers right for me?
Veneers mimic the natural appearance of your teeth with a very thin layer of porcelain. Each veneer is custom-fitted to your individual teeth, then Dr. Bennett bonds them to your existing teeth. Veneers cover blemishes such as misshapen teeth, stains, cracks, or gaps. They can also restore weak teeth.
Porcelain remains the most stain-resistant material for making veneers, though veneers may also be created out of resin composite materials. Porcelain also tends to match your natural enamel better. Dr. Bennett explains your options and recommends the best type of veneers for your specific needs.
What should I expect if I decide to get veneers?
After a meeting to talk through your veneer options and the results you’d like to see, you come back for a second appointment. At this appointment, Dr. Bennett takes off a minuscule amount of enamel from the surface of your existing teeth to shape them in preparation for the veneers. Once your teeth are prepped, your dental practitioner takes a mold of your teeth and sends it to the lab, where technicians will make your custom veneers.
When your veneers are finished, you return to the office, and your veneers are fitted one by one over your existing teeth. Once your teeth are entirely prepared for the bonding process, the dental specialist applies a unique adhesive and light beam. This step helps the cement bond firmly to the porcelain. Voila! Once the cement dries, you have a new and upgraded smile!
Why should I get veneers?
Veneers provide a natural-looking way to correct crooked, cracked, or misshapen teeth. Also, they provide the following benefits:
- Resistance to stains
- Little gum irritation
- Can lighten darker teeth
- Aesthetically pleasing with minimal dental work
- Reinforce weak teeth
- Cheaper than other dental treatments such as crowns
